Greek Life at West Chester University
On behalf of the Staff of the Office for Greek Life Programs, welcome to WCU and congratulations on your decision to explore the possibility of membership in our Greek community. For close to thirty years, Greek organizations have played an active role in campus life and continue to provide students with many opportunities for personal enrichment.
The University currently recognizes over 20 Greek organizations. While each of these organizations is unique with activities, traditions and customs of their own, each one shares common founding principles based on friendship, scholarship, personal growth through leadership and service to others.
As you view our web site, you will notice that our organizations are involved in a wide variety of activities. These activities include:
- Participation in intramural sports
- Hands-on community service
- Fund-raising events for various philanthropies
- Attending social functions
- Participation in campus and leadership activities
Membership in a Greek organization will provide you with a living-learning experience which is unique in the college world. Today's Greek organizations are more than a social experience. Fraternities and sororities provide students with many valuable learning experiences. We are proud of many of the traditions of the WCU Greek community and we are also committed to the challenges which lie ahead.
Should you become involved in the recruitment (RUSH) process, we urge you to keep an open mind, ask questions, and spend quality time with each chapter. All of our chapters can provide you with a worthwhile experience. Know that one chapter may be right for you but not for your best friend. We encourage you to find a group which has standards and values consistent with yours, one with which you can make a lifetime commitment, one which honors the contributions of each and every member, and one that supports the mission of the organization and the University.
Our best to you and let us know if you need any assistance.
Sincerely,
Jared Brown
