Volunteer Opportunities

Complete instructions will be provided for volunteers.
A summary of volunteer roles:

Greeters:

Greeters will be stationed at the entrance to the exhibit.  Your role will be to welcome, visitors, keep a count of visitors, and help direct the flow of visitors.  Educational materials will be available for grade school and high school visitors.

Monitor:

Quilt monitors dress in white or beige and are stationed at each panel on display.  Monitors assist visitors in locating a name on a panel.  You will be provided with information to answer questions.  Monitors insure that no one walks on a quilt panel, and that any items left do not come in direct contact with panels.  Tissue boxes are located at each panel.  If a visitor is in need of emotional support, the monitor will contact a committee member.

Selling Merchandise:

Various items will be available for purchase with the NAMES Project logo.  All proceeds go to our beneficiaries.  Instruction sheets, price lists, and all materials will be provided.  The merchandise area is set up just outside the display.

Readers:

Throughout the exhibit, the names of those on the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt will be read in 10 minute intervals. If you are volunteering as a monitor or greeter, you may also be a reader during your shift.
