Since our refounding in the
spring of 1996, Tau Kappa Epsilon has focused on building leaders and
breaking stereotypes. We
have succeeded in building a new member program that focuses on academics and
leadership, while eliminating hazing in the process. Our brothers have included the
presidents of the Interfraternity Council and Intergreek Council as well as the
president and several members of the Order of Omega (a national honor society
recognizing the top academic performers and leaders in the Greek system). TKE's
Intramural teams also finish among the top performers in every sport we
participate in. As a chapter, our community service rivals that of many service
organizations while retaining the fun and brotherhood inherent in a social
fraternity. We believe that TKE at West Chester University represents the best aspects of fraternity life
in leadership, scholarship, and brotherhood.
Service
This past winter our chapter embarked on our first annual
Tiki-Fest
to raise
money
for our national philanthropy The Nancy and Ronald Reagan Alzheimer's
Association. This
event had bothers standing outside in the snow for 48 hours to raise money. This
past winter we were able to raise almost $1000 and hope to surpass that amount
this year.
Our chapter also actively participates in the Inter Greek
Council's (IGC) two major philanthropies, Camp Dreamcatcher and
Halloween on High Street. Each year, we team up with all the other Greeks to put
together Halloween on High Street. Working with the Police Auxiliary Fund we
decorate our Fraternity house to look like a haunted house, and the sororities
on campus lead the kids through the haunted houses, ending up at the gym where
we through a Halloween party for the kids, complete with bobbing for apples and
decorating pumpkins.
Greek Life
Our
Chapter also actively participates in the Greek Events held here on
campus. Each year we pair up with a sorority and dance in the WCU Homecoming
Parade. We took
home first place last year when paired up with Alpha Phi.
Each spring we also participate in WCU Greek Week. We are paired with a sorority and participate in such events as a Cook-off, Greek Games, and a Lip-Sync Competition.
