| The 1999 MACVC Championship Tournament was this weekend. West Chester, as always, played very exciting matches and showed we are a still a powerful team in the League. Our first match was against under rated Lock Haven University. We came out hitting hard and took the first game. It seemed things were a bit off in our pool with Princeton beating the much favored York college 2-0 just before our match. Lock Haven, led by two very powerful middles, dominated the second game, and sent the match to a third and deciding game. In rally scoring anything can happen, and so it did. We lost 15-13 in a duel right to the end. Now 0-1, we were to face Princeton next. They are always a threat to end your day early. This time however, we responed with two very decisive wins to even our match count at 1-1. There was one more match left in pool play. Overall #4 York College , of the powerful West division, was our opponent for that match. York and West Chester were both 1-1. We both needed to win in order to stay in tournament. So, it started. This was one of the most energetic and exciting matches I have witnessed in all of our nine years. We came out looking unbeatable. York brought everything they had and we threw it all right back at them. It was a fun and easy win. The second game was not quite the same. Our bad passing reared itself again and forced us to take a loss. The third game is of course rally scoring and we knew we could not afford the errors. We kept our passing in check and squeaked out a victory 15-13. With that upset win we went on to face Susquehanna University ,the defending MACVC champions, for our first playoff match. Scott Trumbauer #7, (who, I must add, is from my high school; Parkland in Allentown, Go Trojans!), served very well in both games. The first game was a sleeper. We could not do anything easily, and due to sunlight coming in the window our setter struggled to see. The second game was played well by both teams. Scott (MVP) continued his 10 foot assault, and we blocked some balls. In the end S.U. was the winner of that game 15-13 and the match 2-0. That left us to hang in 5th. Susquehanna did go on to win the tournament and repeat as MACVC Champions 1999! Congratualtions to S.U.! As for us, its out to the sand court for those long late summer evenings of doubles v-ball. Don't worry though, all but one of us will be around next year. |

| The last regular season match of the year was on Sat. 17th. We
would like to thank PCB for taking so much time out of their day. The
matches were very long and handled very well. Due to some travel problems,
we were not quite prepared to play. However, we composed ourselves and
handed PCB three losses in a row to win the match 3-1. Swarthmore proved to be a lesser challenge. After one game, the second team went in to get some experience. The b-team has played many good games throughout the season, and they have closed out some matches for us. Despite good effort, some poor passing allowed Swarthmore to win the second game. The A-team came back in to win the next two games for a final score of 3-1. With a overall season record of 13-1, and a ranking now 5th overall in the league, we are looking forward to making some serious waves in the Championship tournament next weekend. |

| The Rams took on the WCU alumni team last night and won 3-1. The alumni came out strong and took the first game 15-13, but they lost their steam and left the door open for the Rams. Thanks to all the alumni who attended the match last night. |

| The RAMS Took on F&M last night and our newly revised offense proved too much for them to handle. Still undefeated with two matches left, we are now looking for the Central Div. title. Stand out offensive performance by Tom Hudzina should be noted. West Chester may also be the best serving team in the league. |

| The RAMS recently beat Villanova, a Division I NIRSA team, in five games. With excellent individual perfomances by the players and solid team play the RAMS will look to build on the win in the upcoming matches with Kutztown and Wilkes. |
