Position: Peer Mentor
Responsibilities:
| Provide personal assistance to students participating in the Mentoring Program; | |
| Help in the development of skills necessary for mentee to succeed at WCU; | |
| Guide in developing realistic goals and expectations for mentee; | |
| Motivate mentee toward achieving academic excellence; | |
| Serve as a role model; resource person, confidante and friend; | |
| Refer mentee to appropriate departments and/or staff; | |
| Participate in orientation programs for effective mentoring; | |
| Commit to serve as mentor for at least one academic year; | |
| Encourage mentee to foster his/her own development by attending co-curricular programs; | |
| Meet with mentee at least once a month; | |
| Establish standard times to meet with mentee; | |
| Work closely with Coordinator of Mentorship Program; | |
| Maintain confidentiality, except in case of emergency; | |
| Submit summaries of meetings with mentee once a month. |
