Each year a Homecoming Kings & Queens are nominated by the various student organzations and then voted on by the student pouplation. Last year's king and queen were Jason Mazzerle & Paige Barrow. .

Here's the basic rules for the King & Queen

  1. No editorials in The Quad supporting one candidate over another. They must be neutral. However, student organizations can place ads in the paper using their organization’s funds.
  2. 2. The WCUR radio station announcers cannot make announcements in support of any candidate.
    They must be neutral. This includes no interviews with candidates.
  3. 3. King and queen organization candidates are encouraged to campaign in the following manner:
    --flyers/posters on bulletin boards
    --announcements in residence hall windows
    --appearing a various locations around campus handing out flyers in support of their candidacy and/or meeting students in person
    --attending student organization meetings encouraging students to vote for their candidate
    --standing outside the building where voting is taking place inside Sykes or Lawrence—if voting
    happens outdoors, all candidates must not be near the voting area
  4. Students who work the voting area cannot encourage students to vote for a particular candidate even if they represent a group that has chosen a candidate from his/her organization-- people at the voting booth must remain totally neutral.
  5. When voting happens, student names will be checked off from a master list. Students may only vote once.
  6. King and Queen candidate forms must be handed in no later than 4 P.M. on Friday, September 15.
  7. King and queen pictures will be taken in Room 236 B Sykes Union on Tuesday, September 19 and Wednesday, September 20 from 9:30 A.M.-4 P.M.
  8. King and queen voting will take place on September 26, 27 & 28 at a time and location to be announced.
  9. King and queen candidates must attend the Friday, September 29 Homecoming Pep Rally and the Saturday, Homecoming Parade and Halftime Ceremony during the football game.
  10. The Homecoming King and queen winner will be announced at halftime by the university president and homecoming grand marshal.
