The Black and Latino Greek Council (BLGC) of West Chester University (WCU) was established on Thursday October 1, 1998. The new BLGC replaced the former Black Greek Council (BGC) and in its inception showed the councils commitment to be progressive in a changing diverse collegiate community. The BGC was an organization founded to provide a home for the historically Black Greek Organizations on this campus. The name change and rededication showed the growth of the council to include Black as well as Latino Greek men and women. The BLGC is composed of Fraternities and Sororities and provides for the development of leadership and cooperation exclusive of gender or race. The BLGC strives to promote unity and cooperation amongst the minority Greeks on WCUs campus. The Council looks to excel in providing a forum for topical issues that concerns the historically African-American & Latino Greeks on campus. The Council also attempts to bridge the differences between and promote the growth of understanding within the various campus organizations. The overriding goal of the Black and Latino Greek Council is to successfully demonstrate the positive attributes of member organizations to the campus and community.
