Welcome to the West Chester University Philosophical Society!

The society (the philosophy club) is student-run organization, including in its general membership undergraduate students who major or minor in philosophy, graduates in WCU's MA program, the faculty of the philosophy department and its alumni.  The philosophy club is open to any student interested in becoming an active member, regardless of major, as well as community members.  The society holds events and conferences, both open to the public and interdepartmental, during the academic year, sometimes in conjunction with official events of the Philosophy Department.

Current members of the society hold a variety of philosophical interests including but not limited to: history of philosophy, metaphysics, ancient philosophy, phenomenology, existentialism, philosophy of science, philosophy of religion, philosophy of mind, ethics, aesthetics, and epistemology.

First Club Open Meeting Time for Fall '11:  Tuesday, 9/13, at 2:00 pm in the Sykes 210. Please e-mail Hannah Peters or Dr. Pierlott if you'd like to know about other meetings.  Club members are encouraged to join OrgSync through WCU.  Non-students should contact either Hannah Peters or Dr. Pierlott about participation.

We encourage all to attend the philosophy club meetings and voice your opinions on the direction you would like to see the club go. We do not know what you want, unless you make your voice heard.

 

SPSRSAT and Philosophy Forum are not club activities, but the club helps promote these venues for philosophical discussion.
